Charter #0522 has been part of San Jose's civic fabric for generations, and the lodge on W Alma Avenue has recently undergone a sweeping renovation that members say left it feeling almost entirely new. Walk in and you notice it immediately: freshly updated dining areas, a gym that actually gets used, and a pool deck large enough to spread out a dozen beach chairs without bumping elbows.

The Olympic-size pool is the crown jewel. Families describe it as huge, spotless, and meticulously maintained, with wide surrounding decks that handle a crowd without feeling crowded. On a warm San Jose afternoon, it draws members and their guests the way a neighborhood park should, with room for kids to splash and adults to decompress in the same space.

Beyond the amenities, what keeps people coming back is harder to photograph. It's the staff who greet you by name, the kitchen turning out food that earns genuine compliments, and an event team, led by standouts like Dawn, who make renting a hall feel effortless. Rated 4.4 out of 5 across nearly a hundred reviews, Lodge #0522 earns that score the old-fashioned way: by actually delivering.

What We Offer

Lodge #0522 operates as a full-service private club with a lineup that goes well beyond a meeting room and a parking lot. The centerpiece is the competition-length pool and surrounding deck, available to members and sponsored guests for recreational swims, family gatherings, and organized aquatic events. A dedicated gym rounds out the fitness side of the campus.

The dining room serves meals that members consistently praise, making it a legitimate dinner destination rather than an afterthought. For private events, the lodge offers multiple rental halls, including a smaller, intimate space that works beautifully for showers, milestone birthdays, and corporate socials. The event coordination team handles logistics so hosts can actually enjoy their own party.

Membership in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks also connects you to a national network of charitable programs, scholarship opportunities, and veteran support initiatives. San Jose's chapter is active in all of them, giving members a way to give back to the South Bay community that extends well past the pool deck.

"What an amazing find! Our daughter is a member and she invited us for an afternoon swim. The pool is huge, clean and well maintained. There is a ton of space on the deck to spread out and even bring your own pop tent for coverage. The bar is fully equipped and the prices are low. A really wonderful facility."

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
